Dainty Garden by dedernc3 (debbie)

Dainty Garden, a photo by dedernc3 (debbie) on Flickr.

A card for a co-worker who is celebrating her 11th year of working in the NICU. The floral and butterfly dies were colored with copic markers.

It has been a while since I've posted or been able to visit in Blogland. Hope all of you are doing well!

Merry Christmas

Life has been very busy lately. I somehow thought it would be a good idea to take a trip in Nov. and then another in Dec. What was I thinking??? I had so much fun on both and wouldn't trade the experiences for anything but it has left me no time for crafting. so I thought I would share some of the photos from my NYC trip. I went with a friend and her daughter and the initial purpose was to see my granddaughter, Ariana in her show Bring it On, the Musical that has been on Broadway since summer. Then we decided we might as well go in December to see the city all decorated since none of use had been during the holiday season.

Isn't this Santa great? We were standing outside DKNY talking about how fabulous he looked and he saw us and waved for us to come in and was very happy to pose with all of us. He was very nice!

The first night we got there we checked out  Times Square, met Ariana, who took us to a fabulous cookie shop, and then we saw the show. It was fabulous!

This is Ariana, Katie and Cheryl in Times Square. Those girls just about walked my legs off. We walked over 15 miles the 3 days we were in New York. We were as far north as Central Park and as far south as the Battery.

After the show on Thursday night we decided we might as well get tickets for another show and went to see Jersey Boys. Great music!

So many wonderful experiences and so much fun! I could go on and on but I will exercise some restraint.

Hope all of you are enjoying a wonderful, happy and healthy holiday season.

Merry Christmas to you all!!

Thankful for Blogging Friends

Thanks for everyone who responded with advice! I finally got into my Picasa Album and was able to delete lots of duplicates that were in there, waited a day or two and I can post :).

This is a card I made for a card exchange. I used my silhouette and a Spellbinders die. Then just a touch of Glossy Accents on the berries. I cut the Spellbinders die cut out of heavy card stock and it was a bit of a challenge. I had to run it through the Big Shot 4 times and that was using one of the metal shims.

So because life isn't crazy enough I am currently enrolled in an online photography class. There is tons of information and some days I think my head just might explode. Also headed to NYC next week with a good friend and her daughter. Wanted to see the city all decorated for Christmas and see my granddaughter and the show she is in on Broadway. Our Christmas tree is up with only lights, no decorations and I ask Larry if he would mind if that was the extent of our decorating this year, LOL!!

Thanks again for your helpful advice and for visiting!

Frustrated and need help

Finally got back in my craft room and made some cards. So tonight when I am trying to post the photo it says I have reached my storage limit. Have any of you had this issue? Do you have to purchase storage space or did you go back and delete posts or photos. Thanks for any help.
Hopefully will get this figured out soon. Meanwhile hope you are all doing well!

Vacation!

I'm back! We've been on vacation in the mountains of North Carolina and this was our home away from home. We had a few visitors each day, first we had deer

and then two days later we had wild turkeys in the yard.

On our drive up about 40 miles from where we were staying it started snowing! That's always exciting to me, we live near the coast so we don't get very much snow. It didn't stick on the grounds or the road but it was still fun to see.
Larry drove the whole time so that I was free to take pictures...thank goodness for digital because I took almost 700 photos. We found a beautiful spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway to take pictures of the sunset. And we sat for almost 2 hours watching the sky as the sun went behind the mountain.

It was good to get away and good to get back home. Hopefully I will have some crafting time soon and a chance to visit some blogs :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Flowers

This card features dies by Spellbinders, Memory Box, and Simon Says Stamp. I made the card base  and then used the Spellbinders deckled rectangles to create windows in the front of the card. I cut a piece of white card stock to go behind the windows and used an embossing folder to give it the dotted swiss look. Die cut the flowers and colored them with die inks. Colored a strip of the dotted swiss white background and added a few pearls for the final touch.

We have been lucky with this storm. It's pretty breezy but no longer getting rain. Hope it will all be gone so the kids will have some nice weather for Trick or Treat. We usually have over 100 kids stop by so we went out today and stocked up on candy.

Hope you are having an awesome start to your week and thanks for visiting!

A Gray Day

Hi! It's been a while and I hope you didn't think I was never coming back. I have been sick and busy at work. This weekend we are dealing with the effects of Hurricane Sandy so it is the perfect time to get a little crafting done. However, I think the dreary conditions have affected my color choices. Not sure if I ever made a card with this much gray, so I did add some brighter colors to the butterflies to brighten it up a little.

Looks like we aren't going to get much more from the storm than a few inches of rain and a few periods of gusty winds. I hope that you are safe and out of harms way. It sounds like the northeast is going to have much more difficult conditions than we are getting.

The butterfly and sentiment stamp are from Hero Arts. The center panel was die cut using the butterfly die from Hero. Then I ran it through the Cuttlebug once more with an embossing folder, and added some white pigment ink to the raised areas. I was going for kind of a brick wall effect. I am not sure you can see it in the photo but the butterflies are seated in the negative spaces with pop dots applied to one side of their wings.

Thanks so much for visiting, especially in  all the rain :)
